Testimonials: Hip Pain

Mary Jo Wright

I can’t really pinpoint when I started experiencing difficulty —primarily hip and shoulder pain— but it was several years ago. At times, the hip pain was so severe that it interfered with my sleeping. The pain in my shoulders would increase and then decrease in severity. The mobility in my arm and shoulder area was very much affected. At times, even getting dressed was difficult.

Over the last few years —when the pain would become more severe— I had gone to two or three orthopedic specialists. I was told it was probably arthritis, and I was given anti-inflammatory drugs. These would bring some relief but only for a short period of time.

Finally, about two months ago, I went to Dr. Jeff Davenport. After a thorough exam and evaluation, he told me he believed he could help me. And he was correct!!! Since beginning treatment at Davenport Family Chiropractic, I have experienced an increase in mobility and a decrease in pain and discomfort. I would certainly recommend chiropractic care for anyone who is experiencing the same types of problems that I was having.

About a year ago, I developed a pain in my hip area which became extremely painful.  I also began to have little aches and pains in my back and joint areas that seemed normal with advancing years but which were starting to restrict my activity level.  I had mentioned these problems on visits to my general practitioner but not action was taken.

At Christmas, my husband and sons gave me gift certificates for several types of massage.  When I mentioned my hip problem, I was told that I might find some relief from visits to a chiropractor.

I had never been to a chiropractor but I have been increasingly interested in taking care of my health in ways that did not involve medication and which seemed more natural and preventative.  I was evaluated at Davenport Family Chiropractic and a treatment plan was proposed.

One big surprise was that one of my legs was at least a ½ inch shorter that the other leg.  I went to a podiatrist and got a lift for my shoe.  Within 2 days I no longer had hip pain.  I was amazed that the solution to such intense pain was so quick and easy.

I am new in my treatment so at this time I am still getting 3 adjustments a week.  I have already noticed improvement with all my little aches and pains.  I am really feeling much better and am encouraged that the aging process may not have to be as painful and debilitating as I had supposed.

My plan is to finish my treatment program and then to continue with maintenance adjustments as advised.  I would definitely recommend chiropractic care and have already done so to several friends and acquaintances.

As I get older, I now see how my past experiences affected my body. We should take better care or it comes back to haunt us. For over 16 years I have suffered with my body hurting and making my life be less than it should. My knee, hip, back and shoulders remind me daily of a miserable life. I began treatment with Dr. Jeff a couple of weeks before Christmas 2004.

I am an anxious person and was skeptical about going to a chiropractor. My earlier experiences with different doctors over the years and different pain medicines just made days tolerable, but the pain never completely went away. I just learned to push through and keep going. My sister has been treated and was having relief. My stepfather would see one in Columbus—he told me, “Go 3 times, if you’re not better, quit!”

Well, I’m happy to say that after 3 visits I was better and continue to a normal life, drug-free, pain-free and happy!
